Triple Zero,
by Quekenator - 04/24/06
Star Wars:
Republic Commando: Triple Zero. For me, this has been a long
awaited book. It is the SEQUEL to the amazing work that is Star Wars:
Republic Commando: Hard Contact. And believe me, it is every bit as good as
the first. The author, Karen Traviss, has kept up with the technical jargon,
the Mandalorian language and the clone-Jedi connection present in the first
book.
I don't want to spoil it for
anyone, but, a little backgound. In this book, most of the action is on
Coruscant. Also, there are TWO squads involved. That is, the squad from the
first book and the squad from the game. The Jedi are present, but there is a
much stronger connection between them and the commandos. And my personal
favourite bit, we get to meet the famously infamous Kal Skirata, Mandalorian
Warrior!
This book showcases not only
the Republic Commandos, but also the elite clones called ARC troopers (If
you don't know what that stands for, you're in the wrong website). However,
these are not ordinary ARCs, they are... Oops! I won't say anymore.
BUY THIS BOOK! I ORDER YOU TO!
IT'S TOO GOOD TO MISS!
Broken Alliance,
by Quekenator - 04/22/06
I quite recently
discovered a SW fan film called Star Wars: Broken Allegiance. It's by some
Australians, led by director Nick Hallam. First released in April 2002, it
has garnered much media coverage and has been screened even at international
film festivals.
It is a very
ambitious film, with a minuscule budget and volunteer cast and crew. To that
effect, I believe they did an amazing job. The effects are quite good
looking and the action is fast paced. The acting was great and realistic.
One of the only drawbacks were some of the CG ships which looked slightly
out of place.
Well, apparently
success has come quite readily to the film which has been downloaded in
excess of 1.5 million times and the website,
www.brokenallegiance.net still gets over
1000 visits per month. Download this, please.
After completion of
this film, the director has moved on to an original creation, also SF,
called Welcome to the Cosmos, I've seen the trailers and I must
admit, they're looking good so far, more information can be found at
www.cosmosmovie.com.
